About Us

Dutch Darlings came about in late 2023, when father and daughter duo, Hans and Maaike Ravesteijn, were chatting over lunch about their longing to travel back to the Netherlands so they could indulge in fresh, hot stroopwafels from their favorite vendor at Albert Cuyp Market. Maaike, then pregnant with her first baby and bearing the burden of a relentless sweet-tooth, couldn’t get the idea off of her mind. In the following months, Dutch Darlings transformed from a craving into a reality!

Hans traveled to The Netherlands to learn from highly experienced stroopwafel bakers to ensure that Dutch Darlings stroopwafels were prepared in a way that honored the traditional dutch approach. Upon returning back to the US, Hans and Maaike brought on a highly trained pastry chef to help refine the Dutch Darlings recipe, and innovate on topping combinations which give Dutch Darlings stroopwafels their special flair. Dutch Darlings’ uniqueness is our ability to create a product that feels both nostalgic and contemporary to our consumers.

Dutch Darlings first began selling stroopwafels at the Del Ray Farmers Market in early 2024. The stroopwafels were made fresh on a grill, and customers were able to select from a variety of toppings which were added in a made-to-order format.
